Feeling Sick, Throw Up Anything Eaten, Alternating Diarrhea And Constipation. Could This Be Virus ?

My daughter has not been feeling good and when I took her to the doctors they said it was a virus. But to me it seems like one symptom shows up, then its gone and the next day a new symptom pops up.First she barley ate anything put threw up what she did eat, then the next morning she had this rash that looked like hives, then 30 mins to an hour later it was gone, this same day she slept all day long and barely ate. Then the 3rd day in the morning she had a little of the rash/hives again but of course it went away. On the way to the doc. she threw up again. Yesterday(4th day) she was trying to go potty at school and wouldnt go saying it hurt, I took her to the doc. and they tested her pee and it was nothing. Now today she went poop crying while doing it and it was a light green and looked like clay, and about 30 mins later she went again and it was tan very loose almost diarrhea. During the last two days her energy keeps going up and down, she will play then just look like she hasn't felt good. Could all of this be from a virus?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described details, there appears to high possibility of Acute viral gastroenteritis.
Rash may or may not appear with any sort of viral infection.
All viral infections are self limiting in nature and persist for at least 3-5 days.
Rash also subsides after control of viral infection.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ gastroenterologist and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, ultrasound imaging, and serum electrolytes, renal function test.
You should take complete antibiotic therapy, antispasmodics, probiotics, antipyretics, if needed.
If itching is present in rash then you should also take anti-allergic medications.
You should maintain your hydration status by taking potassium rich liquids.
Take soft diet along with yogurt and banana.
Avoid milk and all milk related products.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
