I'm also loosing lots of hairs and this is worring me how many I found after i wash my hairs and etc...I'm exercising regulary(3time a week) and have a private trainer who done everything he could but still putting on weight and not loosing anything. I went to my Gp in poland and she tole me just after looking at my neck that i have problem with thyroid,i have done tests and my tsh result was 4950 and the max in Poland is 4200 so she told me i definitely need to be treated and go to endicronologist and do the scans and etc.I live in Scotland and i came back here asked doctor to do a tsh test and the result was 4970 but the norm in Uk is 5000,so they told me they won't do anything.what should i do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The symptoms that you have mentioned, and neck swelling are very much suggestive of hypothyroidism. The blood levels of T3 and T4 should also be performed. In order to diagnose any thyroid disease for the first time, you need to get all biochemical tests done. Along with these investigations, an ultrasound of the neck and fine needle aspiration needs to be done. Thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism however, there are other causes also. These causes need to be ruled out. Consult your gp for prescription of these investigations.
