Fever, Headache, Irritation In Throat, Does Anxiety Play A Part?.
My son gets fever "virus'" from the months of September through May -usually once per month or so. His symptoms is a fever for 4 days with a headache and his throat is a little irritated but he doesn't complain about it. Why could this be happening? Does anxiety or nerves play a part? These months are during the school year and I am concerned. Not sure what else to do. My Dr says its ok to be sick 9/10 a year.??? Kim YYYY@YYYY
a child can get 7-12 episodes of viral infection in a year which is quite normal and the months you have mentioned are nototrious for it so need not to worry.the spectrum of viral infection can vary and can range from mild malaise to sore throat or high fever.the little irritation which is cause of worry for you could be due to sore throat.these episodes are generally self limiting and causes anxiety in parents for 4-5 days.so dont be worried give medicines as prescribed by your doctor.as your child grows up these episodes will decrease.
Thanks for posting on HCM. A child is usually susceptible to viral infections during the periods of peak transmission, as mentioned. Thus, it might not mean serious even if the child gets this infection upto 6/yr. Allergy, anxiety or decreased immunity might be responsible for this. Anxiety may play a role and would need professional psychiatric evaluation. You can proceed as follows: 1. Get allergy tests done to assess whether the child is allergic.(IgE assays, Absolute eosinophil count) 2. Get annual influenza vaccination 3. Get psychiatric evaluation for anxiety. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks. Regards. Best of Health.
