Fibroid In Uterus Removed. Fever, Body Pain After Surgery, Normal After Taking Panadol. Reason?
My wife had a utrinal fiberoid removal surgery on Oct 11. During this surgery her upper part of uterus and left ovary was also removed. She is taking it fine at home. only problem is that she has 100 degrees celsius temperature twice a day i.e in morning and at night with body pain, This becomes normal after she takes a panadol in about 30-40 minutes. Pls advise.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The mild rise in body temperature that you are experiencing is related to the reactionary fever after a major surgery like hysterectomy. This will subside on its own without any treatment. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Rakhi Tayal , drrakhitayal@gmail.com
A daily rise in temperature is a cause of concern. Check if there is any discharge from the wound sight or any pain in abdomen. If it is there, she will need antibiotics. If the wound is OK, check for any other symptoms like running nose. If the fever is with chills, get the blood evaluated for parasites like malaria and also the blood counts and CRP to check for infections. If any of the above is positive, she will need to see a physician for further treatment. Hope this was helpful. Have a good day.
