Fibromyalgia, HBP, High Cholesterol, Overactive Bladder. Take Acetaminophen, Tramadol. Concerned About Ginseng, Guaranae Side Effects?
I like the Monster Loca Mocha cold drink in the a.m. instead of coffee. I am concerned about the side effects of the ginseng and guarana. I am 65 and have fibromyalgia, HBP, MVP, high cholesterol and over-active bladder. I take acetaminophen/Tramadol for the fibro pain because I tend to IBS with the nsaids. I hurt the most when I wake up or after strenuous work (raking leaves, vacuuming, etc.) After I have my mocha and the pain meds, with a hot bath in the am., it is the best I feel all day. Comments?
The main side effect would be increase in heart rates and blood pressure, but if you monitor these and they remain within normal limits, that is less than 140/90 consistently, then I would not be too concerned. Both guarana and ginseng improve circulation, alertness and concentration, so probably thats why you feel better.
