Finger Is Swollen, Bruised, Pains When Moving. Is Finger Broken?

Could my finger be broken? I was at a well-known restaurant chain and I went to scoot up my chair. However, the chair was broken (the seat was not connected to one of the legs) and I unknowingly placed my finger in the spot where the seat was not attached. I ended up sitting down...on my finger... Both the person sitting across the table from me and myself heard my finger, like, breaking. It made a LOUD popping noise. Now it is swollen, bruised, and hurts to move it AT ALL. Could it be broken?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling and bruise in the finger can be due to inflammation in the joint. It is not necessary to be a bone injury but an X-ray is needed to rule this out.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
