Fishy Smelling Discharge, Swollen Lump On Pubic Bone, Dots On Vagina Lips. BV ?

I am waiting to hear from a clinic if I have BV and everything was pointing towards it, I had a fishy smelling discharge a swollen lump on pubic bone and always needed to pee this was a week ago have taken 7 days of antibiotics and that's all cleared up and all the swelling has gone and no pain through intercourse anymore. 5 days in to taking tablet I went back to dr for check up (results still not back) and mentioned the swollen gland and the fact I had a small what I called blister at the time (not painful) two small dots in vagina lips that disappeared after 48hrs that I put down to the antibiotics and the infection of the BV coming out of my body. I was told by my dr that this was herpes and that there was a few lumps inside my vagina. Should I get a second opinion as I hear outbreaks are painful. I was in a little bit of discomfort from the swelling for all of 48hrs, I has no yellow puss blisters or scabby lumps and no real other symptoms. In fact the day I was put on antiviral I felt fine. Help please

Hello,

Above features are mostly suggestive of bacterial vaginosis with co-existence of STD.

In this scenario, you must do relevant investigations like STD profile, vaginal swab test, urine examination- routine, microscopic & culture. It will help to make a concrete diagnosis. Genital herpes should be ruled out by culture.

Metronidazole or same categorical drug (like Tinidazole/ secnidazole) are useful to treat Bacterial Vaginosis. It can be taken as 2 gm single dose. Vaginal suppository at bed time can be given.

Antiviral treatment with acyclovir is quite helpful to treat genital herpes. Maintain genital hygiene properly and practice safe sex in future.
