Hi,
It seems that your husband is having
exfoliative dermatitis.
It is also known as
erythroderma, characterised by erythematous, dry, scaly patches on most of the skin areas.
It may be due to drugs , internal diseases or cutaneous diseases.
Some time there may not be any cause.. Idiopathic.
Most common drugs are sulfa containing drugs, dapsone thiazide diuretics, doxycycline ,minocycline,
tetracycline, penicilline,phenytoin, chloroquin...
Psoriasis, atopic dermatotis, ichthyosis, eczema ..etc may result into erythroderma.
Malignancies,lukamia,anaemia,
malnutrition,immune deficiencies may cause erythroderma.
Dermatologist must be consulted.
Your husband should be examined thoroughly. He should be investigated to find out the cause. If there seems any cause ,treat it.
Steroids in tappering doses, antihistaminics, antibiotics etc may be given.
Moisturising cream containing propylene glycol or liquid parraffin may be applied.
He should take bath with dettol water.
Taking healthy food, having good sleep and avoidance of stress are helpful.
I hope he may be improved.
Best wishes.
