Hi,
Yours is an unusual case.
Many uncommon causes of raised beta HCG have been reported. I suggest that you first try to use another lab to test and another method. False positive rates may be due to
heterophile antibodies interfering with the assay. Discuss this with your pathologist if possible.
Common causes are
pregnancy,
abortion, ectopic [may be ovarian pregnancy as ovary is showing a cyst that may be a sac],
trophoblastic tumors [tumors of the placenta usually arise after pregnancy or abortion]
Other causes may be lung, breast, colon, kidney and many other tumors leading to similar results. A CT scan and pet scan may help in detecting these.
A diagnostic laproscopy may also help if other results are inconclusive.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
