Fluid-filled Lesion On Little Finger, Pain On Applying Pressure. Causes And Treatment?
My daughter, 9yr old, developed a single colorless fluid filled vesicle-type lesion (size of large pea) at palm side at base of pinky finger . It appeared about 8 weeks ago and i just let it alone thinking it would go away on its own... It has not. now it does not seem fluid filled but has hardened and it hurt to put pressur on it. Any idea what this is and what to do about it?
Dear J,
As you have described the lesion, it can be a number of skin conditions, but as there is only a single lesion in palm of the hand even after 8 weeks it is most likely an abcess which has hardened now. Incision and drainage under local anaesthsia along with antibiotic coverage is the treatment for the abcess.
Hope this helps. Take care
