Fluttering On The Right Side Of The Stomach Radiating To The Groin Area. Muscle Spasms Or Chances Of Aneurysm?
Last night I had a fluttering happening on right side, above my stomach. No matter if I stood or repositioned my seating (on a couch programming on a laptop), it continued for over an hour. I went to bed with it still happening and fell asleep. In the middle of the night I was disturbed out of my sleep my an external source. I then noticed that the flutter had moved down towards the groin area and away from the original position. Is this just muscle spasms or an artery issue and something serious like a potential aneurysm?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
hi,
Based on the information provided it does seems like a muscle spasm. Because its just not possible to have atrial disease over night and the in case of aneurysm of aorta the most essential cause is high blood pressure for prolonged time as well as the age is also an important factor, only a marfan's syndrome patient ( very loose tissues like who can bend their forefingers an touch arm, hyperextension in all joints and elastic skin that can be stretch beyond 6 inches ) can develop such diseases over night.
If none of the above two mention condition is present in your case the rest assured it was just a spasm.
ADVICE- Drink some milk per day, such spasm mostly occurs due to decrease in calcium level in blood.
Hope it helps Dr. JAY PATEL
