Follow Up X-ray Showed Partial Clearing In Right Lung After Treating Koch's Infection, Cured Cough. Due For Chest X-ray. Prognosis?

Hi, I was diagnosed with Koch's infection in February 2012. The doctor gave me Fixcom 4 to take three times a day. A follow-up x-ray in April showed partial clearing in the right lung, and another x-ray in September said there is no significant change. I've had about 5 months of treatment, and the cough has gone.

Last week I've had a pre-employment medical exam for a big company that I really want to work for, and I'm worried about the results of the chest x-ray. The clinic asked me to submit a copy of the previous x-rays from 2012 for comparison.. Is there a possibility that I could be declined the job position because of this?

Thanks!

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posing the query on HCM.
After being diagnosed with Pulmonary kochs, a minimum of 6 months of anti tb treatment is required. If there is lack of radiological resolution at the end of treatment then that needs to be evaluated. In your case the dosing of anti tb treatment seems to be sub optimal. Rather then 3 times a day dosing, the recommended dosing is once a day dosing of all the drugs after light breakfast. At this stage, I recommend you to visit a pulmonologist and get yourself re-evaluated. If the the kochs has not cleared, then you will technically not be fit to join duties.
I myself had infact studied on the dosing of anti tb treatment practices in India and surprisingly most of the anti tb treatment received in India is also not correct.

Malaysia infact has its own standards for TB care.
I would suggest you to visit a Pulmonologist for re evaluation.
Regards
Dr. Mishra
