Foot Infection Not Getting Healed Due To Bad Blood Flow, Has Black Spots On Foot. How Serious Is This?
My sister has an infection in her foot that is black now, the doctor are treating with antibiotic but they say the blood flow to her foot is no bad the medicine is not getting to the infection. Now she is seeing additional black spots on her foot. How serious could this be? She had her blood flow level checked yesterday to this leg and they said it was a 17 what does that mean?
Dear sir/ madam Thanks for writing to us. Black discoloration means that the area is not receiving enough blood supply and is dying with time. this usually happens in 2 case scenarios. First when the supply is compromised because obstruction in major or minor blood vessels. This happens in a number of systemic disease which vary with age of patient and in cases where clots migrate from heart to limb vessels. The treatment is usually to open the vessel by surgical or pharamacological means. second scenario is local infection by agents which invade the blood vessels and render the local tissue ischemic (without adequate blood supply). They include some fungal infections which mostly occur in patients with low immunity. Both case scenarios are serious and may require surgical intervention. Sorry, i can not elaborate on figure "17" without details. Sincerely
