Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Please clean the the wound well soap and water.
Rabies virus is transmitted through saliva by a bite, not a scratch.
As you have noticed only a superficial scratch, there is no need for the vaccine.
Rabies vaccine duration of immunity lasts for a minimum of 3 year and upto 10 yrs, depending on which vaccine was administered.
As you have completed a full course of
rabipur, the immunity should still exist. A
blood test can help you confirm immunity status.
In the future, if rabies virus contamination is suspected, please consult your doctor. You might need only 2 shots depending on the time(since previous
vaccination) and severity of bite.
A scratch is a potential source of bacteria that cause
tetanus. If you haven't had a shot in the past 5 years, get one the next time you have any injury that causes a break in the skin.
So no need for any Injections now. Just monitor the wound and see a doctor if there is any sign of infection (
redness, swelling, warmth in the area, purulent discharge).
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
