Forgot To Take Birth Control Pills On Time. Is There A Chance Of Pregnancy?

I am on the birth control Junel Fe 1/20. I missed my period and they are normally always regular. I did have unprotected sex and I did not always remember to take them on time, but I did take the pill every single day. Is there a high chance that I am pregnant? I took a pregnancy test (equate) and it came back negative, but it was only a couple of days after my missed period. Should I be worried?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Oral contraception offers approximately 99% protection against unplanned pregnancy when used appropriately.

If you used the pill daily even if not at the approximate same time, then it is unlikely that you are pregnant.
Pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy by day 11 to 14 after conception so if you did the test at that time, it should have given an accurate response.

If it was done earlier than this then you can repeat it to be sure.

There are other causes of delayed period such as : inadequate diet, emotional stress, physical stress or illness, abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, high levels of prolactin hormone, extreme physical activity and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

If your repeat test is normal , then your doctor may evaluate for one of these.

I hope this helps
