Dear Dr., My friend Age 78yrs has fractured his D12 bone in his Spine & is Bedridden since 3 weeks.His Orthopedic Surgeon has advised to take Calcium Nasal Sprey in alternate nostril each day, take Zobone 5mg Injection through IV & wear Taylor's Brace . Is it O K to have Zobone Inj,as i have read that it is also prescribed for Cancer Patient. Dr. has also advised Vertebroscopy if the pain persist. He has told him that it will take 4 to 5 weeks for him to come to normal life as before. Pl advise. Thnx Madhu Kothari
Hi Madhukar, thanks for writing to HCM. The orthopedic surgeon has given right treatment for your friend. A single drug at times will have multiple indications (that means a drug can be prescribed for many different diseases). To make you understand better, "chloroquine" which is generally prescribed for malaria is also useful to treat few dermatological conditions (skin problems) as well as to treat "rheumatoid arthritis"(bone & joints problem). In most cases, this condition improves within 6-8 weeks. Hope this helps
