Hi. Just a few questions and comments on your mom's condition.
Regarding the
frequent urination at night, this may be a symptom of
diabetes mellitus. I suggest that her fasting blood glucose or sugar be tested if not yet done. Include in her test the blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine.
Regarding the pedal edema, this may be related to diabetes, a kidney problem, liver problem, or heart problem. I suggest that her BUN, creatinine be tested for any kidney problem. I suggest that her SGPT or ALT and
serum albumin be tested to rule-out any liver problem. Have an ECG to rule-out any heart problem.
Regarding her feeling sick, relieved by Gaviscon, this is most probably brought out by dyspepsia or an increased acidity of her stomach. Sitting up helps. I suggest that you give
Esomeprazole 40mg 1 tablet twice a day at least 30 minutes before meal. I suggest that a hepatobiliary tree ultrasound be done to rule-out any obstructing
gallbladder stone.
I would love to hear from your for any follow-up querry or update on her condition.
