Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Frozen Ankle After Sitting For A Long Time. Difficulty In Movement. Reason?
Sometimes after sitting a while or just by getting up my ankle seems to freeze causing me not to be able to move it causing me not to be able to walk on it. As if something is twisted or something. I have found when it does this I can press in under my ankle while rotating my foot and it fixes the problem and I can walk just as normal as before it happens. Do you have an idea of what is going on?
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The stiffness in the ankle after sitting for a while is likely to be due to a ligament stiffness or a tendonitis. You need to a regular hot fomentation in the area and physiotherapy exercises after consulting your physical therapist for relief.
