Get Hollow And Loud Sound When I Tap On Sternum. What Could Be The Cause?
So I know this is nothing really, I have a couple questions about my body. When I tap on my sternum, I get a very hollow and loud sound. Many of my friends and family seemed disturbed that it s such a loud thump. Is there something different about my bones?
Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic. The thoracic cavity is filled with air so it is normal to hear such a sound after hitting on the sternum. It would have been abnormal if it were associated with shortness of breath and chest pain. You really do no need to worry.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish you good health
