What Causes Pressure In Sternum?

Hi - My sternum has been bothering me all afternoon. It feels like the muscles around my sternum feel pressure. It s made considerably worse when I bend forward and there is additional pressure or weight against my sternum but I can t think what I would have done to cause it.

Hello,

The symptoms you mentioned suggest musculoskeletal problem as a cause more likely. If you don't have cough, fever, wheezing in chest and sputum, respiratory problems are to be ruled out.

Taking rest, adequate fluids, good sleep can settle it. However if it persists, you should visit a doctor who will examine you physically and may order some investigations like Chest X-ray and blood work.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
