Getting Sharp Stabbing Pains In Lung, Cannot Breathe Deeply. What Are The Complications?

im 16 and this has been going on for about two or three years now. i will randomly get sharp stabbing pains in my left or right lung and cannot breathe deeply at all, it happens even if i am not active and just sitting down. coccasionally it helps if i lay flat on my back and breathe short breathes and wait for it to go away. about a year ago i had one of these random pains and i couldnt move or barely breathe. ive never been to a doctor about it but am worried maybe there could really be something wrong

Hello.

It is not clear from your case whether you are a boy or a girl. The causes of chest pain may differ. Secondly, the lungs never pain (they do not have pain receptors. They have cough receptors) though airways may pain (but will be always associated with cough).

The chest pain if localized (pointed with a finger) is almost always a skeleto-muscular pain such as a cramp or a blunt trauma. If localized on sides of sternum (chest bone), it may due to cartilage problem. Usually a cardiac pain wont occur like this. Pain which is localized to breast is very common in this age group (both males and females)

A condition called MVP is also usually associated with such pain. An echocardiography will easily diagnose it.

Anxiety related pain is also likely in your case as is gastro-esophageal reflux looking at 3 years history.

I have read your problem and i think you have described your problem in a very unusual way. a little more light on the lifestyle patterns and nature of symptoms would had helped more. I would advice you to get a spirometry done because your symptoms may be of bronchial asthma and in that case spirometry is diagnostic. get an ultrasound abdomen done for signs of gastritis.
For now, i would recommend you to avoid fried, oily and spicy foods, tea and coffee. take plenty of water daily and cold milk at night. If spirometry is suggestive of bronchial asthma, you may require inhalers for treatment.
