Granuloma Annulare On Both Ankles, Had A Large Lump On The Neck That Gradually Disappeared. What Could It Be?
I had a large lump on the right side of my neck about 1 year ago. Back then I was scheduled for a biopsy . A couple of days before surgery I had noticed the size decreased. I went to the doctor and the surgery was cancelled. Since then the lump has basically disappeared. It still remains, however it is miniscule compared to its original size. I am just curious as to what it could have been or what it is. I also have granuloma annulare on both ankles and one spot on my left dorsal palm.
Hello. Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Your history is interesting. As you probably know, granuloma annulare (GA) is a non-cancerous, chronic skin condition that tends to wax and wane over time. While GA is often an isolated condition, it is sometimes associated with other underlying disorders, such as infectious mononucleosis, autoimmune illnesses (thyroiditis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.) and certain malignancies (e.g., Hodgkin's lymphoma) -- all of which can cause lymph node enlargement.
The fact that the lump on your neck has essentially resolved is reassuring. At this point, unless you're having other symptoms (weight loss, night sweats, fatigue, joint pain, etc.) there probably isn't a need for further investigation.
I hope that answers your question!
