Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Green Drainage From Eye Ducts, Droopy Eyes Spit Up When Coughing Hard. Taking Fever Reducer, Cool Compress
My 7 month old grandson has temp of 103. Some coughing, a lot of drooling in past 3 weeks r/t drooling, no teeth yet. He has had green drainage from eye ducts. Droopy eyes, will spit up if coughs to hard. Very fussy. Gave fever reducer, and cool compress, not croopy cough. He rests when he is held but as soon as he lays down, he wakes up, restless.
Your grandson is having high grade fever with cough and green eye discharge. The green eye discharge is suggestive of eye infection and he will require antibiotic eye drops for it after consultation with a doctor. His high grade fever (103) with cough could be due to a viral or a bacterial infection. High grade fever in an infant should not be ignored. Giving fever reducer will not treat the cause. I suggest you get him examined by a paediatrician, as in case of a bacterial throat infection he will require a course of antibiotics. Do not worry about the drooling, that could be because of his throat infection or teething (not necessary that you should see a tooth).
