Grown Up Child Urinates In Pants. Why?

My step daughter who is 12years has urinated in the car while we were on a long trip. She didn't ask for a toilet stop, but instead urinated on the car seat quietly. We discovered the next day as the odour dissipated in the car. I have noticed on previous occasions that her worn undergarments are wetter than normal with very strong urine ordour. Do we need to worry ?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Urinary incontinence is very uncommon in grown up children.

But the following things to be ruled out by proper evaluation and investigations.

1. Urinary tract infections

2. Urge and overflow incontinence

3. Psychological stress factors

4. Diabetes Mellitus.

Therefore I advise you to investigate her with complete urine examination, urine for culture and sensitivity, urine for sugar, blood sugar, and ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to rule out the above problems.

And she needs examination and interview by a Pediatrician to look for any psychological issues, problems.

Therefore consult a Pediatrician for examination and investigations.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
