Hi . I have had exposures to HIV in the past month and am on PEP. The exposure was from receiving oral sex from an HIV positive person when I have cuts down there, and than the same thing happened with the same person 3 days ago. This time I had extremely rough sex the day before and was so sore there was a big patch of dried blood on his sheets in the morning and was also sore so I went and got another PEP prescription. I also got disagnosed with BV . I know that this increases your chance of infection a lot. I was wondering how much this increases the risk and also should I definitely take the treatment for BV to clear it up ? I am just asking this because I have read the reason it makes you more susceptible is because when body is trying to cure the BV the cells come to the surface area and so there are more cells for the Virus to attatch to. I thought if I take the tablets this could make more cells for the virus to attatch to and increase my chance of sero conversion more ? please help

HIV Positive, Diagnosed With Bv. On Pep. Advise?
Hello, Thanks for the query, PEP is not a treatment it is just a prophylaxis. The success of PEP is not that great. Its not that if you take PEP you will not get infected. Regarding BV, it surely increases the chance of infection. I think you need to get tested. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Please meet a dermatologist you can ask a direct question to me on this forum, following the below link. http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-rahul-kumar/64818 Wishing you good health. Thank you
