Had Implanon Birth Control Inserted In Arm, Removed. How Long Would Will It Take To Be Normal?

I had the Implanon birth control inserted in my arm for about two years. I just had it removed yesterday due to side effects I didnt like, especially the vaginal dryness . How long would I have to wait until my body goes back to normal? I am not trying to get pregnant, just want my body to go back to normal so that sex can be more enjoyable and not as painful. Thanks!

Hi,

I understand your concern but I want to assure you that the side effects are short lived. The drug remains in the body for maximum 7-14 days. The return to fertility may occur as early as within 14 days. Even if you do not menstruate for a while after Implanon removal, the restoration in hormonal balance is going on and you can start to experience a decrease in vaginal dryness in a week or two.
Meanwhile you can use any simple vaginal lubricants to help you tide over the dryness. They are available over the counter and contain a combination of products so it is difficult to suggest a name here.

Hope this helped. Thanks for using HCM, have a good day.
