Had Mirena IUD Inserted, Rosacea Flared Up. Is It Due To The IUD?

I just had a Mirena IUD inserted Friday. My rosacea has really flared up. Is it due to the IUD. I generally know my triggers and don t have many flare ups at all. If it is caused by Mirena will the symptoms subside after a while or do I just need to get it removed?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

A rash is usually not triggered or worsened by insertion of IUD unless there is a hypersensitivity reaction. If the rash does not get back to its pre-insertion state or even better, then I would recommend a visit to your doctor, as if this is an allergic reaction, the IUD may have to be removed.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
