Had TIA, Done Stress Test. What Is The Difference Between A Shunt And A Stent?
Had a stroke 8 wks ago. only a TIA...but now after a stress test doctor wants to do a shunt. Heart has good blood flow but not as good as would like...what is the difference between a shunt and a stent ...as I have read a shunt transfers blood to different parts of the heart while a stent opens a blocked artery ...is that correct...thanks
I'm not exactly sure what are you referring to but
Shunt is between the chambers , and directs blood from one chamber to next via the shunt and direction of shunted blood depends upon the pressure gradients
STENT is a a metallic device which overlie the lesion and relieves the obstruction
Hope that answers
