Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
As you have not been sure of your proper last menstrual period, it is very difficult to estimate the weeks of
pregnancy based on the dates.
The spotting and erratic bleeding indicates menstrual irregularity.
Now the dating would be according to the
ultrasound scan.
The earlier the scan is done in pregnancy, the more reliable it becomes to date the pregnancy.
You should go for an ultrasound scan since your home test is recently positive.
At this probably, a heartbeat wont be identified.
However, the
gestational sac can definitely be measured.
That will provide a most accurate assessment of the weeks of pregnancy.
Then onwards that would serve as the landmark for calculation of weeks of pregnancy, as well as for estimation of the expected date of delivery.
All the best
Take care.
