Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had a large bump on the underside of my left breast (looked like an infected pimple). When I squeezed it liquid shot out. Went to my doctor and was prescribed antibiotics - was told I would see an improvement in 48 hours. 3 days later went to another doctor because the bump was worse (and my doctor's office was closed) and I was prescribed a different antibiotic - was told I would see an improvement in 48 hours. After 4 days of no improvement I went to my original doctor and was told to take both antibiotics and get an urgent ultrasound the next day. Got the results of the ultrasound and was told we would have to drain a 1cm x 3 cm abscess. When the doctor tried to drain it there was no liquid. Was told to go for a follow up ultrasound in 6 weeks. My maternal grandmother died from breast cancer and my 36 year old sister was diagnosed with breast cancer (3 years ago - had chemotherapy and radiation treatments - ok now). I am 47 years old. I requested to have a mammogram. Mammogram will take place next week. At this time the bump has disappeared, my breast is tender and I feel pins and needle type pain. Should I be concerned? Is a mammogram and ultrasound all I should be doing? Thank you.
