Had A Stroke, Headaches, Affected Vision. On Ecosprin. Done MRI, MRA And Blood Tests. Why Is The Blurred Vision Persistent?

I am 18 year old girl. I had a stroke 6 weeks back which has impacted vision in top left quadrant. Since then I am taking ecospirin. Citinerve. I get frequent headaches also. MRA, MRV, ECHO and various blood tests are normal. Over the last 6 weeks I felt my vision slightly improving but 2 days back it again deteriorated. Again did MRI which shows no new event or Haemorage. Normal vision treat is also fine but I feel blurred vision. Pl suggest.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.

I feel your diagnosis needs to be revised. Vision involvement in stroke can be due to brain involvement (usually occipital lobes or temporal lobes), which will be seen on the MRI brain. So, if your MRI brain is normal, then, a stroke as the cause of vision loss is unlikely. Also, your age is too low to get stroke, in the absence of any risk factors.

A possibility in your case is optic neuritis, which can be confirmed by an assessment by an ophthalmologist and doing visual evoked potential studies.
Please also discuss with your neurologist.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
