Had Brain Surgery For Chronic Subdural Hematoma. Taking Zapiz. Confusion, Memory Loss And Swelling In Feet. Side Effects?
My father is 78. Underwent brain surgery for Chronic Subdural Hematoma 2 months back. He took 1.25mg of Zapiz for 5 nights @ 0.25 mg. Side effects : 1. Confusion. 2.Memory Deficit. 3.Drowsy. 4.Problem in movement. 5.Reduced Audio/Visual receptivity 5.Inattentive 6.Swelling of feet.
Zapiz has a half life of 18 to 50 hours. Half life is the time it takes for the dose of the medication to decrease by half in the body. This means that every 50 hrs , for example, the amount in his system would be halved and eliminated.
If he last took it over a month ago and only used it for 5 days, it should not be still exerting significant effects.
If is possible that the problems may be related to the history of the hematoma.
You may want to consider taking to be reviewed by his neurologist who may suggest brain imaging.
I hope this helps
