Had Cold, Getting Worse, Given Cough Medicine. No Appetite, Exhausted, Light Headed, Coughing And Wheezing. Pneumonia?

Is it possible to have pneumonia without a fever? I had a cold that start 3 1/2 weeks ago, started feeling better then after 2 weeks, it has been getting worse. My Dr. gave me cough medicine on Thursday which has loosened the mucus but I have no apetite, am exhausted, light headed and coughing and wheezing. No fever. Not sure whether to seek further medical attention or ride it out.

Hi there,
Cold is upper respiratory tract infection involving the nose and throat. Pneumonia occurs when the lower respiratory tract and lungs get involved. If you are getting cough with sputum then your lower respiratory tract is also inflamed. Few cough medications cause lightheadedness and sedation. If you have these symptoms since 3 weeks, I suggest you get a sputum culture and sensitivity test and get appropriate antibiotic therapy from your doctor. Thanks
