Had Four Recent Births. Performed Tubal Ligation. Menses Have Not Started. Any Problem?

I'm 37, had 4 recent births (2 years apart), all normal vaginal except the last. It was an emergency c section due to placenta abruption. A tubal ligation was also performed as previously planned. This was in December 2012, 10 months ago. I still breastfeed baby although she is eating food now too. My question: I still haven't began menses again. Could there be a problem?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Women who practice breastfeeding average 14.6 months of amenorrhea. Seven percent experience a return of their menses in the first six months following childbirth. Thirty-seven percent get their periods back during months seven to twelve. Forty-eight percent get their periods back sometime during the second year after childbirth. Eight percent go longer than two years without periods.

The above information is from data collected and published in medical literature.

Hope this helps.
