Had Intestinal Infection Recently. Having Less Bleeding During Periods. Caused By Stress Or The Infection?

hi i have a quick question...Recently i realized that i had a intestinal infection im in the process of healing my self. But i also just noticed that my period has changed too. I'm usually a pretty heavy bleeder for about 3-4 days but this time i was heavy for one day and then started spotting..today is going on almost the second day of spotting. There is a possibility that i could be pregnant but honestly i don't think that is the answer. I have been stressing heavly through out the week about my infection and work related things so im thinking that may be the reason why my period is irregular. My question is could this be the answer or could the infection be whats causing my body to react this way.

Hi,
yes this may be due to hormonal imbalance caused by stress. Better not let it overpower you. Try de stressing measures like meditation, yoga a good book and try to sleep early and at the same time each day.
Also, if you were my patient, I would check for pregnancy by a urine test as it is the commonest cause and we must never ignore the possibility.
The infections if severe and lead to sudden weight loss, high fever or severe loss of appetite can cause this. They do not directly interfere with periods. If this was your case, it will become normal in a month or two. Eat and sleep well and you should be fine.

Thanks for the query and for using health care magic.
