Had Knee Replacement Surgery. Put On Coumadin. Has Nightmares, Hearing Things And Wild Movements. Related?
My husband had knee replacement surgery last week and was put on Coumadin. His first blood check showed levels were too high so Coumadin was withheld for 4 days. Last night he took another 5 mg of Coumadin and he had a terrible night Nightmares, vivid dreams, wild movements of arms and legs, hearing things that did not exist. He has had mild sleep apnea in the past, but NEVER like this. Could the Coumadin cause these symptoms or could it be that the medication is accelerating the symptoms of sleep apnea.
Coumadin does not causes night mares, vivid dream, wild movements of arms and legs neither does that obstructed sleep apnea(OSA)
Coumadin does causes stroke when INR is high , a specific area in brain can cause these symptoms if he had hemorrhagic stroke at that area due to coumadin, get MRI brain + INR level, see a neurophysician
OR what your doctor diagnosed as OSA can be Narcolepsy causing movements of limbs, hallucination, dream abnormalities...GET NEUROPHYSICIANADVICE AND DISCUSS THIS
