Had Membrane Sweep Followed By Bright Red Discharge, Lower Abdomen Cramping, Shooting Pain Down Legs. Why ?
I had my membrane sweep tuesday in my ob office. It was just uncomfortable. A few hrs later i had bright red and discharge just enough to start using liners. It stopped yesterday into spotting and came back after last nite after painful lower abdomen cramping and shotting pain down both legs. I figured i would try to sleep thru it if it doesnt let up i would go in. Should it still be bright red or brown/stop by now?

Spotting after membrane sweep is normal.
Even irregular uterine contractions after membrane sweep is normal.
If your body is ready, membrane sweep ripens the cervix and can lead to development of labor.
if labor has not started bright red is fine but once labor starts the discharge will change
