Had Mirena, Removed Now, Bleeding Continuously, Prescribed Prometrium. Normal? Cure?

I am 56 years old. I had a Mirena for 5 yrs. No periods. Now that it has been removed, I have been bleeding for about 14 days a month, Not necessarily in any order. My doctor prescribed 200 mg of Prometrium for 10 days then off for 6 weeks. I have been taking it for 4 days and bleed heavier than before. Is this normal. What am I to expect I guess I didnt expect to have to pay for the answer. Please disregard my request. I am not paying. I will go to my doctor. sorry to bother you.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The persistent bleeding after the removal of mirena coil may persist for upto 10 days in some cases. If the bleeding is heavy and is persistent then hormonal treatment is recommended to control the bleeding.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
