hi there,i would like to ask something.. i have a miscarriage about 10days ago..im planning to drink dicynone to stop bleeding since it was 10days ago..after I drink dicynone and the bleeding stop can I use albothyl?i also want to take contraceptive.is it ok to take contraceptive pills while im inserting albothyl?pls do reply.thanks.

Hello,

First, you have to ensure that abortion procedure is completed and there is no retained bits or placental tissue. One USG scan is able to detect those.

Second, mild bleeding or discharge is quite common after miscarriage for 2 to 4 weeks. For that, you can take ethamsylate (dicynone) or tranexamic acid to arrest bleeding.

Third, Albothyl is a topical haemostatic and antiseptic suppository. You can use for short term purpose only.

Last, You can take combined OCP as soon as possible for restarting a new cycle as you are already 10 days late or start from Day1 of next cycle.

Yes, contraceptive pill can be taken while you are inserting albothyl. There is no reduced effectiveness of the pill. Maintain genital hygiene. Good luck.
