Had Pneumonia, Treated With Antibiotic. Small Spot On Lung Cleared After Treatment. Symptoms Repeats After Long Time
Hi, My husband who is 76, had pneumonia 2 months ago and was treated with an antibiotic. He had just one small spot on one lung. He was pronounced clear after treatment. This week he has started with the same symptoms again. Is this an ongoing problem or one that was not treated fully the first time? What would cause a occurrence?
Ideally if the pneumonia was treated properly it wouldn't cause a recurrence however some diseases may have a prolonged protracted course in immune suppressed patients. You check for diabetes and renal diseases in your husband and if possible get a bronchoscopy or a biopsy done to know the exact cause of pneumonia this time. Tuberculosis can be one reason which can cause recurrence.
