Had Posterior Repair, Post Op Infection And Antibiotics. Pains In Lower Abdomen, Lower Back, Vagina Bulging . Help?

Hi. I had posterior repair on 30th Aug - 7 weeks ago. I had post op infection and antibiotics of various types from 3- 5 weeks. I began to feel more comfortable last week, but now have pains in lower abdomen and lower back. It is uncomfortable to sit - almost feels like the inside of my vagina is bulging out. I still have discharge but without odour. Is this expected at this point. Have post op consultation next week and due back in work Monday of week after.

Hi,
i am sorry that you had an infection. It is possible after surgery in the genital region especially lower down.
But since you are feeling better and the discharge does not have a smell, you would be fine. Sometimes the sutures used for repair cause irritation and discharge in sensitive patients. But it decreases after some time.
The vaginal bulging is a cause of concern. It decreases with muscle strengthening exercises called Kiegels exercises which a physio will explain.

At this point I suggest that you avoid lifting heavy weights, and avoid constipation so as not to put strain on the healing tissue. For this you may use a lactulose or a cremaffin solution at bedtime and take more and more liquids in your diet along with vegetables and salads.
When the wound heals completely, start exercises to tighten the muscles and you should be fine.
Hope this helped you. have a good day.
