Had Several Lumps And Nodes Removed In Breast, Painful, Armpit Pain, Neck Pain. Is It Cancer?
my wife had a lump removed about a year ago and several nodes also, within the past 3 months a large lump has appeared in the same breast and has grown very fast causing pain in the breast and up thru her arm pit and into her neck. we just had bio test done this morn and was told she has a lot of puss and blood in the mass. my question is , is this a sure sign the cancer has returned or could it be something as simple has just an infection in her breast. thank you for your time.
Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Pain in breast, pus and blood can be most likely due to breast abscess or mastitis caused by breast infection but probability of recurrence cannot be ruled out.best course of action would be to get your wife examined and a course of antibiotics will reduce the pain and lump. After that if condition persists then further testing should be done by FNAC and scans.
Recurrent breast cancer may occur months or years after your initial treatment. treatment of cancer aimed at eliminating all cancer cells, a few may survive which multiply, becoming recurrent breast cancer.
The cancer may come back in the same place as the original tumor, known as local recurrence. Or it may spread to other areas known as distant recurrence.
I sincerely hope this will help you!
take care!
