Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had Sinus Tachycardia. Might Be Viral. Should I Get A Second Opinion?
I recently went to the ER and had sinus tachycardia with a d dimer of 0.7 elevated and a fever and weakness. They drew blood cultures and a bunch of labs. Nobody said anything was wrong but my tachy heart and my fever was 100.9 and my d dimer was high and then they released me saying it might be viral. Should I get a second opinion.
Thanks for your query. Fever can cause sinus tachycardia and D-DIMER can go up with any viral infection or inflammation. D-dimer is a good blood test to rule out clot in lungs but it can go up in any infection as in your case. I would not have asked for D-dimer any way as it causes confusion . So you don't need any further second opinion take care
