Hi!
welcome to HCM!
That awful smell seems to be due to staph infection but the recurrence of cancer is also a probability,as the cancer grows, it blocks and damages tiny blood vessels, which can starve the area of oxygen causing the necrosis of skin and underlying tissue. There may also be infection, and areas of the wound may become ulcerated. you must get him examined.

Antibiotic therapy is still the mainstay of medical care for MRSA, but laboratory determination of MRSA antibiotic resistance and susceptibility is important in establishing effective antibiotic treatment. Once the antibiotic sensitivities of the sample are determined, the patient can be treated appropriately.
It is important for him to take all antibiotics as directed; do not stop the antibiotic even if the symptoms seem to resolve before the prescribed dose is finished. Early stoppage of antibiotics can allow MRSA to survive and develop further antibiotic resistance.
Hope this will help you!
