Had Stent Placed, Since Then Nausea, Vomiting, Dizzy And Fell, Broke Hip, Unable To Eat. Suggestion?

Hi, My 77 year old mom had a stent placed October 10, which followed with severe nausea and vomiting. When vomiting, her blood pressure was dropping to 20 and 30. They gave her phenergan, which knocked her out for another day. She was able to eat a couple bites of food the next day, and she was released to a nursing home on Sunday, October 13. She was experiencing severe nausea and vomiting, not eating at the nursing home. She tried to walk Wednesday, got dizzy and fell, breaking her hip. She is still experiencing the nausea and has lost even more weight. She also was experiencing extreme confusion after the procedure, making remarks that did/and do not make any sense. Do you have any opinion of what could be going on? I am very concerned. Thank you, Debbie

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Your doctors might have ruled out any adverse reaction to the injectible iodine containing contrast (dye). The kidney function tests also need to be monitored regularly. Following heparinisation (using blood thinners) during the procedure, any bleed in the brain must be ruled out. Her blood oxygen levels and electrolytes also need to be monitored.

There are multiple factors involved and you may request the doctors to give you information on your mother's condition.

Hope this helps
