Had Surgery To Correct Deviated Septum And Cyst Removal From Sinus Cavity. High Temperature, Headache And Rash Formation. Why?

Hi there,
I had surgery to correct a deviated septum and removal of cysts from my sinus cavities on May 6th. I was prescribed a 5 day course of antibiotics post sugery. I have had 2 follow up consultations since and have been told all is fine with no signs of infection. However i had noticed that an itchy rash appeared on my torso about a week ago and woke up Tuesday 21st with chills, high temperature and a crippling headache. These symptoms only lasted a day. I still have the rash but it can be controlled with 10 mg of Loratidine.Since developing the rash i have a foul smell in my nose. The ENT specialist said the smell was normal but i omitted to tell him about the rash. Should i go to hospital ?
Many thanks in advance
Paul

Dear Paul,

I advice you go to the hospital urgently and have your nose examined !

Fever, chills and rash after nasal surgery sounds like whats called the "toxic shock syndrome" and can be quite devastating and life threatening. It may be due to a retained material in the nose. Foul smell coming from the surgical site also supports this diagnosis.

Please keep me updated

Take care
