Had Surgical Abortion Earlier, Have Two Recent Miscarriages. Did The Previous Abortion Cause Miscarriages?

Had a surgical abortion d&c 12 months ago which I regret, (coerced by boyfriend). Have had two recent miscarriages last 6 months. One missed miscarriage the other one blighted ovum. Did the previous abortion cause my miscarriages ? Am I at risk of uterine scarring from abortion?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
A previous voluntary termination does not affect future pregnancies generally.
A missed miscarriage and a blighted ovum are due to chromosomal anomalies.
They are not generally due to the aftermaths of a previous abortion.
Risks of repeated miscarriages include - pelvic infection, uterine scarring and adhesions, tubal blockage, cervical canal incompetence.
Yes, you may face difficulties in next conception.
Wait for atleast 3 - 6 months before planning your next pregnancy.
Take regular folic acid supplements meanwhile.
If you fail to conceive / menstruate regularly consult a gynecologist for detailed evaluation.
Take care.
