Had Total Abdominal Hysterectomy. Sudden Increase In Acne Can Be A Sign Of Perimenopause?

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with removal of one fallopian tube and ovary in 2011. The other tube and ovary was left in place. For the last few months I have had a massive increase in acne (worse than puberty!) and am so unbelievably cranky I can t stand myself. Is this the beginning of perimenopause?

It is certainly possible that you are entering perimenopause. Especially if you are beyond the age of 40. If the symptoms get really bad, you can try many herbal products that have been shown to help women in menopause such as black cohosh, evening primrose, soy, or dong quai. However, if these don't help, you could see your doctor who can test your hormones to confirm if you are menopausal, and they can discuss with you other options such as hormone replacement.
