Had Triple Bypass Surgery. Suffer From Diabetes And Fatty Liver. Is It Safe To Take A Flight?

My brother had a triple bypass surgery ,last june 2012 ,he ll be 6oyears old in April this year and he has type two diabetis as well had fatty deposit in the lever 4years ago but is better now .He likes to come to England to visit us,in August ,is it possible he fly from Jakarta ,?isn t it danger for his heart??.Thank you very much.

Hello,
There are no restrictions on flying with well-controlled diabetes.However people with following conditions are not allowed to fly by aeroplane

....Uncomplicated myocardial infarction
....Complicated MI within 4-6 weeks.
.....Unstable angina.
.....Decompensated congestive cardiac failure.
.....Uncontrolled hypertension.
.....Coronary artery bypass graft within 10 days.
....Cerebrovascular accident within 10 days 
....Uncontrolled cardiac arrhythmia.

If your brother doesn't have above mentioned problems,then there is no problem in his travelling by aeroplane,however it would be better if he talks to his treating doctor and take his permission.
