Hello
Thanks for your query.
With 8 years of trying to conceive and at the age of 40, please fix up an appointment at the earliest with an infertility specialist.
You should definitely be concerned.
Firstly, have basic hormonal tests and tests to assess your ovarian reserve, that is, the capacity of the ovaries to form mature follicles, which is age dependent, and declines rapidly after the late thirties.
Then have a pelvic ultrasound , and follicular monitoring to check ovulation.
have your husband's semen analysis done.
If all is normal, check patency of your fallopian tubes with a laparoscopy.
All the best.
